Our History

We were incubated by Viveca Sawers, the Founder of The Ideas Manifestor in January 2022. She grew up in areas that were devastated by the Black Summer Bushfires (2019 – 2020) and was determined to step up and create positive change – to raise awareness and rewild degraded land back into habitat for koalas – and so our charity was born! 

Initially we started exploring ways we could educate and bring the next generation of change-makers on the journey, and what better way than two happy and nature-loving little koala mascots? Hence Leuca and Gumi came into fruition. 

The original hand-knitted koalas first appeared on social media in January 2022 spreading positive planet information and embarking on some amazing adventures. By May 2022, they were revised to become our signature fluff-balls and digital versions were also launched. 

It was decided that Leuca and Gumi’s Koala Adventures was to become a charity and focus more on the corporate and rewilding aspect, and the child-friendly content plus mascots would branch off into a new company called Koaleyos. This way the charity could focus clearly on its primary objectives, whilst being supported and complimented. 

In July 2023 it became increasingly apparent that our initial brand Leuca and Gumi’s Koala Adventures also needed a refresh in order to align with our core aim of rewilding. So after much anticipation our new brand Rewild Me Now was launched.
