Boost Blocks

What are ‘Boost Blocks’?

A ‘Boost Block’ is a piece of land that is degraded in some way (such as being cleared of trees) that needs to be rewilded back into native habitat. Our aim is to boost the available habitat for koalas. There are three types, based on land size:

Type A: Mega

Over 10 hectares in size

Type B: Midi

Between 1 – 10 hectares in size

Type C: Joey!

Under 1 hectare

What is an ideal ‘Boost Block’?

An ideal ‘Boost Block’ is a block of land that has the following qualities, including but is not limited by:
  • Neighbouring existing or potentially future koala habitat
  • Easy access from a road
  • Even terrain
  • Access to water
  • Good soil quality
  • If cleared of trees – this must not have occurred in the last 3 years
At this stage, not all blocks of land can be considered by us for rewilding due to a number of factors, including but is not limited by:
  • Outside the SE Qld region (for logistical reasons)
  • Flood zones
  • Unsuitable terrain
  • Soil toxicity
  • Zoning
  • Legal Agreements
